As we have seen, videogame players invest a lot of time in their characters and see avatars as a representation of themselves in digital spaces, but what work goes into designing those characters and avatars in the first place?
In this video we hear from freelance character designer Wendy Lawn who discusses the art of character and avatar design, how she builds a new person from scratch and how technology must merge with artistry to create a fully-formed character that videogame players can relate to.
