This session explores a specific scenario where on campus students attended a teaching exercise with distance students at the University of Sheffield Information School.
The case study is a 2hr session where professional academic library staff joined our face to face Librarianship cohort for an interactive lecture delivered live through the Adobe Connect webinar tool, and students on campus. This was recorded and ‘flipped’ to our distance cohort via Adobe Connect in the afternoon - with Professor Stephen Pinfield introducing the recording and managing questions. There were numerous technical considerations in preparing and managing the sessions and recordings, and of course pedagogical ones (for example - were the librarianship students feeling like they would play ‘second fiddle’ and how could we manage expectations).
Overall the session was very successful and provided an efficient way of managing guest lecturers at a distance whilst simultaneously creating and delivering highly interactive content for two parallel modules on a similar theme.
