A ‘white-collar crime’ is typically a financially motivated, nonviolent crime committed by business or government professionals, such as bribery, fraud and embezzlement. White collar offenders, at the time that they offend, are frequently in possession of all the advantages that we would usually associate with desistance from crime. This means that to understand why white collar offenders desist, we need to look elsewhere.
