This short video is an overview the G.I. tract and illustrates all the
basics of the alimentary canal as well as some finer details about the
organs involved.
The process of digestion is a very interesting yet complicated topic, so
this presentation is a step-bystep guide to show how the different
parts of the GI tract come together to produce the entire canal.
Everything starts when food is introduced into our body. In the mouth
food is not yet in a form where it can be absorbed. This means it is
broken down into nutrients so it can be digested. Amino acids,
carbohydrates, fats and vitamins are essential nutrients to keep our
cells functioning and meet all our bodily demands by providing it with
energy for growth and cell repair. The clinical relevance of the GI
tract is very high as about 4 in 10 people show at least one symptom
caused by dysfunctions of the digestive system. CAPTIONS available.
