The first impressions you make in your new job are based on how you communicate with your new colleagues. In this video, you’ll find out what the 3Vs are and how they make an impact on the way you communicate.
The 3Vs are:
VISUAL
Your body language and facial expressions. The way you dress and how you present yourself. First impressions count, and how you look is the first thing people notice when you meet.
VOCAL Your voice. The volume, pace, pausing. Your use of intonation and tone. Depending on how you use your voice you can give the person you are speaking to lots of different messages.
VERBAL The language you use. The phrases you use and the way you present and structure your thoughts. Make sure your language is appropriate to the situation. Use polite language.
In different cultural contexts, different Vs will be more important than others in making a good first impression. Which of the three Vs is most important in the environment you live or work in?
