Gary Wood, of University of Sheffield Enterprise, discusses work he undertook with students in a former role in the Department of Linguistics. Gary devised and launched the award-winning ‘All About Linguistics‘ website, in which first year students were tasked with creating a website, with a real-world audience of A-Level students who may not know what the topic of Linguistics entails before university. The students used Google Sites, and were encouraged to use a range of tools to utilise the form, and create multimedia components including YouTube, Hot Potatoes and Dipity. Here Gary discusses the project, including considerations of assessing non-traditional forms of work.
