The Execution of Marshal Ney by Gerome is one of the most intriguing paintings in Sheffield's collections.

Although the work illustrates an historic event, many believe there are clues - both in the work and in history books - that point to an alternative narrative. Dr Crawley Jackson and Dr McCallam tell us more in this video.
