Study Skills Hack created by 301 Academic Skills Centre.- Divide your page into two columns, labelled ‘cues’ and ‘notetaking’.
- During the lecture/seminar take notes in the ‘notetaking’ column.
- After the lecture/seminar pick out key words or summarise the information in the ‘cues’ column using prompt questions - these could be the heading of lecture slides or your own questions about the content.
- Cover the note taking column with a piece of paper and using the cues column say aloud, in your own words, the answers to the questions or the information you have covered.
- Reflect - could you remember everything and does it make sense? Is there anything you missed out or need clarification on?
- Review and revise as necessary.
