In this video, filmed at Ponderosa Park in Sheffield, Daniel Raven-Ellison from Mission:Explore challenges three students with ‘missions’ that involve playful forms of learning. Iain, Ben and Millie, accompanied by Phoebe the dog, experimented with playful fieldwork and found this approach to learning fun, but also creative and productive.
In this video, they are given new challenges, which illustrate how, in order to understand serious play, it is important not just to discuss play, but to do it as well. At the end of the video, they reflect on the specific things they have learned and found, and also on the more general messages this communicates about the form and meaning of play.
