S - Sentence structure - check each sentence is not a: run on sentence, sentence fragment, sentence that does not make sense, or a stringy sentence.
W - Word usage - be sure you’ve used the correct word, avoid slang words, use precise nouns and verbs, and avoid contractions.
A- Agreement - be sure that subjects and verbs agree in number (singular/plural), be sure pronouns are in the correct case (subjective/objective), keep verb tenses and voice consistent, and use subjunctive mood for hypothetical and untrue situations.
P- Punctuation - be sure all sentences have ending punctuation, questions end with question marks, and commas are used after introductory words/phrases, after items in lists, in a compound sentence, and after a dependent clause when it comes before an independent clause.
S- Spelling and capitalisation - Avoid casual spelling, check usage of homonyms, begin each sentence with a capital, capitalise proper nouns and eliminate unnecessary capitals.
