In recent years, reappraisals of the Cold War era within East Asian Studies have led to interdisciplinary work exploring the influence of the Cold War on cultural domains such as literature and cinema. This double seminar brings critical perspectives on the cultural Cold War into the study of music and cultures in South Korea. The two presentations illustrate how the global Cold War animated (or forbade) particular transnational trajectories in and through music, and, conversely, how music contributed to affective geopolitical articulations.
