Nature knows best: The beetles helping researchers to make sustainable paint

Cyphochilus and Lepidiota stigma beetles are ultra white, but their colour comes from structural colour rather than pigments.  Researchers in the Department of Physics and Astronomy have studied these structures and created a similar material which they hope to use to make more environmentally-friendly white paint.
