To provide the best possible learning experience for our non-traditional students, we adopted a pedagogy based on the principles of active learning, flexibility, and a flipped curriculum to maximise opportunities for critical reflection and evaluation. Students engage with structured sequences of learning through Blackboard, bringing their responses to face-to-face sessions where the tutor acts as a facilitator to deepen their learning. Follow-up activities are then provided for further extension, and to provide a continuous experience across different learning contexts.

We used our VLE as the core of each student's learning journey so tutors could curate content and interactive resources to create a meaningful, accessible narrative structure where students can situate their professional and personal experiences. This is an iterative work in process, which has been a learning journey for students and staff. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss it with interested colleagues and seek ideas about further development. In the presentation, we explain and discuss the key principles informing our work, share examples of our resources within Blackboard, and provide feedback and Q&A from student and academic co-presenters.
