While ScHARR has always led the way with evidence synthesis, the last two years have seen more students than ever before choosing to conduct review-based dissertation projects. This can lead to students being supervised (and their dissertations marked) by supervisors who themselves have limited experience of review methodology they choose, which may be either narrative or systematic.

Following on from Mark Clowes's session on supporting students with literature searching, this session will aim to prepare supervisors for assessing their student's work by highlighting the key features of a "good" student review project.

It will cover features like:

- study selection (including reporting the literature search process)

- quality assessment

- synthesis of the included evidence

- academic writing

- referencing

and where students can get more information on each of these.
