An accompaniment in music is a musical part (vocal or instrumental) that supports or provides background for other musical parts. As soon as we add rhythm to the chords that sit underneath a melody, we are creating a song accompaniment. These accompaniment parts can contribute a significant element to a final song.

Over the next couple of videos, Adam is going to take us through an arrangement he’s been working on for a version of My Town. In this video, Adam is joined by singer Julie Clarkson to explain the outline that he has come up with so far. In the next video, we’ll be heading into the studio to add different musical parts to the song.
