The Sounds of the Cosmos

The Sounds of the Cosmos

Paul Crowther, Professor of Astrophysics in the Department of Physics & Astronomy provides a contemporary overview of astronomy at the Sounds of the Cosmos event during the 2014 Festival of the Mind.

Talks span our own solar system, stars, galaxies, extra solar planets and introduces future large telescope projects. The talks are enhanced by a wide range of beautiful images, photographs and videos, plus extracts of Holst’s Planets Suite which was performed by the Sheffield Rep Orchestra.

Thanks to Stewart Campbell (Dept of Music), George Morton (conductor) and Human Studio (original visuals). The event was commissioned jointly by the University's Festival Of The Mind and University of Sheffield Concerts.
